The whole experience started with a Mayan welcome, interesting. It then proceeded into running across a suspension bridge for photo opportunities, kind of cheapen the experience. The snorkelling, while we saw statutes and lots of fish, the 3 groups all had orange life-jackets, white boats & crew all wore purple made it very disorientating in the water when trying to find your group or boat. “Our snorkel instructor, Jorge, rushed us the entire time, did not provide clear instructions, and he was very unkind to beginners. No one gave instructions on what we should expect from the beginning to the end of our tour. Jorge only let us practice snorkeling for around 1 minute and he didn’t properly teach us how to use the snorkel equipment. We had trouble using the equipment during the entire experience so we ended up swallowing a lot of saltwater during the snorkeling and couldn’t breathe correctly or swim the right way due to the lack of instruction. Roberto and Captain Juan were absolutely amazing they made sure that I was safe they also told me about all the fish that we were seeing as well as make sure that we were comfortable in the water before we went far away from boat. We stopped at multiple snorkeling sites which was definitely appreciate it because most companies will take you to one site and then that’s the end of the excursion.
